TDA Board Holds Ninth Regular Meeting

TDA board held its 9th regular meeting on 19 February 2008 (12 Yekatit, 2000 E.C) in the historic town of Axum in the Remhai Hotel. The board discussed the budget plan of 2000 budget year, the performance report of the past 6 months, London TDA- house administration, reports of sub-boards of Kalamino and Selam bus and other important issues in depth.

Departments of Organization and mobilization, project planning, and finance and human resource each presented its respective plan budget and performance reports of the past 6 months.

According to the report of Organization and mobilization department, though it was planned to raise 12 million Birr from telethon until February, but it was reported that the program of the telethon was rescheduled and post phoned to the end of June 2000 E.C. However, TDA domestic and foreign branches are working actively to raise the desired 50 million birr until June 2000 E.C.

Regarding recruiting new members, and increasing income, so far 31,000 new members have been recruited and 55% of the income plan has been achieved in the past six months.

The report presented by the department of project planning, goes as follows. The department is trying its best to avoid its draw- back. Nine proposals have been prepared and send to donors. The department is working hard to pursue the partnership with A Glimmer of Hope in a stronger way. The report also announced good news about the grant of BESO III project to undertake project of Community- Government Partnership Program (CGPP) in partnership with Save the Children -US with over 8 million birr in the coming three years. The Ambassador’s Girls Scholarship Program /AGSP/, which was helping 78 high school needy female students, is pledged to continue and help additional 78 high school male students.

Besides the report of finance and Human Resource departments showed that so far, a total of 10.8 million Birr, of which, 4.8 million birr from projects, 3.2 million birr from organization and mobilization campaign and 2.8 of million Birr from the internal revenue, have been collected in the past six months.

The external auditor, who won the bid to audit the 1998/99 budget year, has finalized all the necessary preparation to start auditing.

In addition, the board has discussed the London TDA-House administration, reports from sub-boards of Kalamino and Selam bus and has passed a number of decisions.
