Activities Underway to Construct Memorial Library for Eyasu Berhe

The Tigray Development Association (TDA) said it has launched activities to construct a memorial library at a cost of 11 million Birr for the renowned artist Eyasu Berhe, who passed away suddenly in Alamata Town last January while leading a fund raising program for the town.(WIC)

TDA Executive Director, Ambassador Tewolde Gebru told ENA on Saturday that the two-floor library will be constructed in Mekelle Town, Tigray regional state.

He said a fund raising program will be organized at Sheraton Hotel and the Millennium Hall in Addis Ababa on May 29-30, 2010 respectively to solicit fund for construction of the library.

Ambassador Tewolde said the library will accommodate more than 1,000 persons at a time.

Tigray State Chief, Tsegaye Berhe had laid a foundation stone for the library last February, the director said, adding, there are plans to solicit up to six million Birr through the program.
