65% Pledges Changed into Practice

  Sixty Five Percent of Individuals and Institutions Pledged in the TDA Millennium Telethon Have Changed Their Promises into Practice.

 It was disclosed by Ambassador Tewolde Gebru ,TDA Executive Director ,during the press conference held on 10 March ,2010 (1 Megabit 2002E.C.) in his TDA International Headquarters office

           Ambassador Tewolde said that so far 45 among the 78 individuals, governmental and non –governmental institutions have completed their school constructions and handed –over to the community, and some others are under construction.
 
 He also added that after the TDA Telethon, generally over 1,300 makeshift classrooms have been changed to buildings, and that if the development acceleration continues in such pace ,all the makeshift miserable schools  in Tigrai will be changed in to modern buildings within the coming two years.
 

 He also heralded that the next direction of TDA will be ensuring quality of education in secondary schools. 

Finally he noted that summary containing report of “Completed School Projects and Pledges Not Yet Started” will be produced and disseminated on May 28, 2010 (Ginbot 20 ,2002 E .C.) in different mechanisms and he appealed those not yet started to enter into practice and change their promise into practice and hence liberate school children from miserable and makeshift schools.

 

 

 
 It is remembered that the Telethon was first planned to raise 50 million birr only, but later due to the relentless and unreserved efforts exerted by the entire people of Tigrai senior TPLF and governmental officials and others, a very successful Telethon that ensures and witnessed the unity of nations nationalities and peoples of Ethiopia was conducted and over two hundred million birr was pledged .
