TDA Provides Youth Friendly Services Training

The Youth Friendly Services (YFS) training organized by TDA and Integrated Family Health Program /IFHP/ Path Finders International Ethiopia /PFIE/ was taken place from 1-6 December, 2009 here in Mekelle TDA head quarters meeting hall.

The general objective of the Youth Friendly Service is to make adolescents aware of reproductive health through youth friendly health services, to establish youth friendly health services at health centers, to use reproductive health service independently,

-   To make adolescents have concepts of reproductive health service through Youth Friendly Service.

-   To train peer educators by health professionals

-   To establish youth clubs at different places.

 

-   Tabias will be benefited by obtaining the necessary services i.e. 

-   Family Planning

-   Sexually Transmitted Diseases

 

  -HIV /Test

-   Education on safe sex and, safe abortion 

 

The training focused mainly on Life skill Education to enhance competence in reproductive health.

 

The training was also expected to enhance the capacity of the trainees on how to 

-   Manage stress

-   Know how to lead sexually health life

-   Resist peer pressure

-   Develop assertiveness and self-esteemed

-   Resolve conflict

-   Learn negotiation

-   Promote gender equality

-   Improve communication and human relation

-   Explain and understand valves

-   Think critically and solve problem

There were fifteen Youth participants from Ahferom, Werie Leke and Naedir Adiet weredas.

 The training was given by experts from Mekelle zone health office and Mekelle University.
