TDA Identifies Core and Support Processes

Tigrai Development Association (TDA) is under-taking Business Processes Reengineering (BPR) to bring about fundamental, radical, dramatic and process centered change in the association.

TDA is one of the institutions that should under take BPR because of the serious pain in TDA that challenge the very existence of the association i.e. critical financial problem, decrease in membership and organizational weakness, wrong image towards it and overall structural and system problems.
The very objective of BPR in general is to show the way how to organize and implement activities and then accomplish the mission of an organization efficiently, effectively, in cost effective manner and timely.
The objective of BPR in TDA in particular is to bring about fundamental change in attitude, leadership, system and organization and hence make TDA strong development association.
So far the following activities have been accomplished successfully.
  1. Establishment of steering committee

Ato Wolday Kidanu           - Cesar from management
Ato Asmelash Assefa        - member from management
Ato Girmay Abera            - member from management
Ato Mulugeta Abay           - member from CSPP
Ato Tsehaye Fikadu          - from CSPP and employees association of TDA
Ato Mehari Hagos           - Member from management
 
  1. Capacity Building Activities
·         Orientation about the why BPR in TDA and expectations from the BPR team by Ambassador Tewolde Gebru
·         Experience sharing on BPR with TDA volunteers in Mekelle university
·         Half-day training by BPR experts of TDA volunteers from The bureau of capacity building
·         Two days training by TDA volunteers from the Ethiopian Civil service College.
The BPR team has successfully completed phase I and so far TDA Core and Support Processes are identified.

  1. Resource creation, Mobilization and Allocation
    • Increasing membership and contributions
    • Fund collection from donors
    • Soliciting material, equipment and skills donations
    • Investment fund
  2. Program Implementation
·         Construction
·         Capacity building
·         Procurement and Delivery
TDA Support Business Processes
  1. Resource Administration
·         Finance Administration
·         Human Resource Development
·         Services
  1. Communications and PR would be under the BPR leader in corporate level
  2. Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation would be under the BPR team leader in corporate level.
The BPR team has started the first part of phase II by establishing Re-designing team. They are working in their respective re-designing groups.
TDA BPR is expected to be finalized at the end of June 2001 E.C
