TDA Announces to Carry Out Blindness Control Campaign In the name of Late Artist Eyasu Berhe

It was disclosed on the press release given at TDA headquarters here in Mekelle on 03 Feb, 2010. (26 Tiri, 2002 E.C).The press release was given by Memhir Yasin Raju. TDA’s Middle East coordinator and Dr. Abdulkadir Mohammed Seid, Dean of Health Science College of Mekelle University.

Memhir Yasin Raju on the occasion said that the Anti Blindness campaign is to be conducted during the 35th anniversary of the birth of TPLF and TDA named the campaign  in memory of the late artist and fighter Eyasu Berhe. The ALBASAR INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION Blindness Control Program was brought from Albuker town of Saudi Arabia by the relentless effort exerted by TDA. The campaign is to be executed by Tigrai Bureau of Health in collaboration with Mekelle University.

 

 He reminded of that the works of the late artist Eyasu Berhe, from the beginning of the armed struggle up to his sacrify, are memorable and unforgettable forever in the minds of the people. Especially his artistic contribution to the development efforts of TDA was extra ordinary.

 
Due to, his outstanding contribution to TDA, the campaign is decided to be in the name of Artist Eyasu Berhe. TDA has brought a medical group consisting of 12 doctors from Saudi-Arabia “African Daewa Committee” to Addis Ababa on June 2009 (Sene 2001 E.C) and provided free medical assistance that estimated over 1.5 million birr.
 
Dr. Abdulkadir Mohamed, on his part, said that 400-600 /eye patients from across Tigrai will be benefited in the form of eye examination, simple and complex eye surgery, provision of medicines and eye-glasses freely.
 
The campaign will be carried out from 6 -11 Feb, 2010 (29 Tiri-4 Lekatit, 2002 E.C) in Referal Hospital of Mekelle.
