Spectacular Contribution from the People of Arbaminch

An event that heralded a remarkable sense of commitment and co-operation for development was held in the town of Arba-minch of the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region (SNNPR).

The fundraising event held in January 18, 2010 was organized by TDA branch of the SNNPR in collaboration with TDA members in Arba-minch town, local authorities and residents.
 
Surprisingly, a total of approximately Birr 174 thousand was pledged by the residents from different walks of life of Arba-minch town. The purpose of the event was to raise fund to improve the learning environment of rural primary schools deficient of sanitary facilities and potable water.
 
It is to be recalled that the SNNPR TDA branch has managed to contribute close to Birr 420 thousand and with the matching fund of the local authorities converted one makeshift school to standard classrooms in Laelay Adiabo wereda of the north western zone of Tigrai, which was made operational since November 2009.
